Once a year, supporters of Lincoln Center Institute (LCI) gather, enjoy dinner and a world-class musical performance, and honor individuals and organizations that embody LCI’s ideals. These fundraisers celebrate LCI’s tireless efforts to bring the arts to young people, and to develop their skills of imagination, creativity, and innovation. So it is with great anticipation that I announce this year’s Annual Benefit Gala, to be held on March 7 at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

Attendees of the 2012 gala have a very special treat in store for them: a set of songs performed by three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O’Hara, of South Pacific fame. The entertainment by the great Ms. O’Hara will follow cocktails, dinner, and the awards presentation; the evening’s starting time is 6:00 p.m.

LCI’s distinguished honorees are Columba Bush and Former Governor Jeb Bush, and the IBM Corporation. Here is some information about them:

As a  passionate advocate for the arts and arts education, for over a decade, Columba Bush and her scholarship program, Arts for Life!, have inspired and recognized over 300 of America’s next generation of artists, dancers, actors, musicians and writers.

As Governor, Jeb Bush championed major reform of education in Florida and across the country by raising academic standards and requiring accountability.  He continues to inspire leaders, state by state, to improve the quality of education for the 21st century in his role at the Foundation for Excellence in Education.

As a true example of what imagination, creativity and innovation can accomplish, IBM has strengthened the elementary and secondary education of millions of teachers and children, and provided opportunities for hundreds of thousands of IBM employees to get directly involved by applying inventive technologies to improve teaching and learning. The award will be accepted by Stanley S. Litow, Vice President, Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Affairs and President, IBM International Foundation.
